BE CAUTION ON HATE SPEECH AND DEFAMATORY REPORTS - CDD to Journalists

Journalists in Katsina state have been called upon to refrain from using insulting or humiliating or hate speech words and to refrain from defamatory reporting while writing news or reports especially on matters related to conflicts, disagreements or any major problem that is happening in the state between the communities especially related to security.
This call came from one of the training lecturers to the journalists on the role they should play in writing their reports on conflicts or disagreements and security problems caused by armed bandits who kidnap people. The training of which the Center for Democratic Development CDD organized for two days to ensure that there are authentic reports that will bring peace.
Dr. Abba also, in the lecture he gave during the training, urged the journalists to be careful with the reports that do not have enough evidence to protect themselves in court when defamation lawsuits are filed. "Don't write the story that someone will give you without having a complete proof of the criticism or statement he made". In a situation such as tension or going through a problem, give a report that will calm the mind even if it is a strong evidence or source.
The training session was organized by Centre for Democratic Development CDD to prepares journalists to bring authentic reports especially in the areas that have security problems, like that of bandits and other conflicts mitigation. CDD selects journalists from various media outlets in Katsina state. Even this time, 20 journalists received this two-days training in Katsina
