THE GOVERNOR OF KATSINA STATE TO START SELLING GRAIN AT FIVE HUNDRED NAIRA PER MEASURE TO THE PUBLIC

       The Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, has ordered the sale of Maize, Millet and Sorghum from the State Government to the public at Twenty Thousand Naira per bag.
      Governor Dikko Radda gave this order on Friday, 8/3/2024, shortly after he inaugurated the General Committee for the distribution of grain and cooked food for the state and the 34 local governments of Katsina State. 
    In a press statement signed by the Director Press to State Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Yar'adua said that, the state government has bought seventy-two thousand two hundred bags of maize, millet and sorghum where two hundred bags will be delivered to each of the 361 constituencies across the state.
       "Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda added that it has been determined that only one bag can be sold to a group of five people. The government has completed the plan to distribute free cooked food to the needy from the first day of the fasting month of Ramadan until its end, God willing"
        Under this program, Malam Dikko Radda said that provisions have been made to distribute healthy food for breaking the fast to 72 thousand people every day, in various centers that will be opened all over Katsina state.
       This shows that through this newly created method, the Katsina state government will feed more than two million needy people in the coming blessing month of Ramadan. 
       In addition, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda announced that his government has prepared a bag of rice worth 25 kilos, which will be distributed free of charge to 33,000 people (those with special needs, the poor and the elderly).
        Governor Dikko Radda explained that the government of Katsina state has taken these steps to try to reduce the price of food, which has increased by bring relief to the community, and to feed the vulnerable during the month of fasting as the religion of Islam provides.
      Therefore, he warned that all the programs are reserved for the needy poor, so no one should be seen trying to buy, or enter the answer line for things that will be distributed to the vulnerable.
       Governor Radda requested the representatives of the established Committees to pay close attention, to ensure that justice is done in the implementation of these activities as planned by the government for the benefit of the poor. He also called on the entire community to cooperate and support the Committees in order to achieve success.
      The State General Committee under the leadership of Malam Halilu Musa Kofar-Bai, has representatives of the Emirs of Katsina and Daura, representatives of Izala and Darika groups, and civil organizations, Dr. Bashir Ruwangodiya, Dr. Ahmad Filin Samji and PPS, Abdullahi Aliyu  Turaji, the chairman and the state secretary of APC and Imam Samu Magaji Bakori.
       In his speech, the chairman of the state committee, Malam Halilu Musa Kofar-Bai, thanked God for praising Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for creating this program at a time when the community is in a difficult situation.  He also hoped that he and all his colleagues will be monitored.
