By Kabir Ahmed S/Kuka
As it was tradition by any security agency for moving from one place to another in order to serve the public and country in general, that is what brought change of baton at the headquarters of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Katsina State Command. The mantle of leadership was passed to the newly deployed State Commandant, Commandant Jamilu Abdu Indabawa by the outgoing Commandant Muhammad Sanusi Bello psc+ who has been deployed to Adamawa State Command as substantive State Commandant by the amiable Commandant-General of the Corps Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, OFR.
In a press release signed by the Command's PRO DSC Muhammad Tukur Abdara, the handing-over was held at the state Command Headquarters, on Monday, 23rd January 2023, in the presence of the management staff of the Command. During the ceremony, the outgoing Commandant enjoined all personnel of the Command to accord the new commandant the same loyalty and cooperation he enjoyed during his time. Commandant Indabawa on his part thanked Commandant Bello for the wonderful reception and seamless transition.
Mr. Indabawa equally solicited the cooperation of officers and men of the command toward protecting critical national assets and infrastructure and other core mandates of the Corps, especially in the present security situation in the state and the oncoming 2023 General Election. He reaffirmed that the Command under his watch will not rest on its oars in ensuring peace and order before, during and after the election. He also seized the opportunity to reassure the good people of the state of his commitment to the fight against all forms of crimes and criminalities and solicited the goodwill and cooperation of the citizens to achieve this noble objective.
53 years old, Commandant Indabawa was born in the ancient city of Kano and had his Primary and Secondary education at Kofar Na'isa Primary School, kano between 1976-1982 and Rumfa College between 1983-1988, respectively. His thirst for knowledge takes him to the renowned Bayero University Kano where he obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management and Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) between 1997-2000.
He is also a vastly experienced Commander of men who joined the Corps in 2005 and over the years had served in different capacities across numerous formations in the Corps. He served as an intelligence officer in Kano Command headquarters, he was the Abia Command's PRO in 2007, and later, the Divisional officer of Arochukwu, Osisioma, Aba south, and Isiukwuato local government areas of Abia State. His deployment to Katsina as the State Commandant may not be unrelated to his deep knowledge of the people and terrain of the state, where he served as Area Commander in Daura and Funtua Area Commands, HOD Crisis Management, HOD Administration and HOD Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Protection Department, in 2021 he was DCC PRS at Akwa Ibom Command and later Commandant in-charge of CNAI, Zone L Rivers Zonal Command which comprises Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers States from where he was deployed as the substantive Katsina State commandant, to carry on with the Commandant-General Audi’s drive to positioned the Corps in its rightful place as a critical stakeholder in the security architecture of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
